Lord of the Flies

In my orientation package for Baffin, it said to bring mosquito repellent for the summer. So I did. For the first 2 weeks, all was well. This week, giant mutant mosquitoes have spawned out of thin air and/or woken from a long winter’s fast and need to feast on blood. I have never seen such vicious attacks. They will swarm you by the dozens! If you held out your hands and clapped, you would find a few corpses in your palms. So I walk outside like a schizophrenic batting at the air. If I pulled up my hood, some would be inevitably trapped around my head and sting my neck. In fact, they will go through hair also. One was so bold as to fly into my mouth, and after much gagging and coughing, they decided to die in the acid of my stomach (or not, as I am on too much PPIs). Today, I sprayed repellent on myself on the way to work, and all they could do was swarm a foot from my head, still disgusting. A nurse took a cab home yesterday just to avoid the them.
