Blogger won't let me enter a title...

LOCAL LIFE

1. "Knocked Up" in Iqaluit. There's a 2 screen theatre here, 10 rows by 15 seats perhaps. Cash only. Student price only aplies to age 14 and less, couldn't argue. Great movie by the way. Seriously. I was surprised. I called the hospital before I went into the theatre "please try not to call me for the next 2 hours unless it's an emergency."

2. I just paid $7.35 for a 2L carton of milk.

3. Walking to work takes 20-25min. Downhill one way...

4. When asked "where are you from?" ... i'm not sure what to say.

5. The nearest (and only) latte place in town is by the airport, 50min walk away. And it's quite delicious.

6. The hospital cafeteria does have the best food in town. They had the most amazing steak the other day and red pepper soup. $2.50 for a can of pepsi there. Good thing I get my lunches paid by the children's hospital in Ottawa, or it's $12, but huge portions (soup, entree, veggies, sides, salad bar, tea/coffee). They're serving caribu tomorrow!!

7. By the way, I did not take that picture of Arctic Bay, I found it on the internet, but it is a real picture of the town.

I have been taking pictures, but don't have the connector to download it onto the computer. I will post it once I get back.
There are actually lotsa cars here, mostly trucks and SUVs, I can't imagine how expensive it must be. There are not car dealerships, it must be crazy to ship it here. There're even some imports!
