Lessons from vacation

1. one must outweigh the benefits of bringing a new toy to entertain the little one against the chance of losing said toy. $30 wooden train. argh!

2. adult to child ratio of 2:1 is good. 4:1 is even better.

3. all-inclusives rock! I don't believe my scale when it says that I've only gained a pound. How can that be when I consumed at least 3000 kcal per day, 1000 of which was in beverages. I'm planning on making my own virgin mojitos all summer with extra mint. Not crushing the mint leaves is just lazy bartending. I am not going to try on any tight pants for the next week.

4. SPF 30 is not enough. My face feels like chicken skin.

5. golf carts are fun to drive even if you're not playing golf.

6. one must outweigh the benefits of putting the munchkin in new clothes which will look cute in pictures against heavy staining from the large amount of fruits consumed. Also, one needs to put on a reliable bib.

7. people are trainable to provide excellent service. Resort service: top notch! Airport service: not so much

8. one must outweigh the convenience of using pull ups against the losing all the potty training gains made over the last 3 months. in fact, one might get so frustrated as to give up on toilet training all together.

9. direct flights rock!

10. thank god for the opportunity to take vacations, and for the feeling of coming home.
