1. Watching my favorite shows (CSI, Criminal Minds) will cause my baby to be born with a cleft lip, or bad behavior down the road.
"But I already had an ultrasound and there is no cleft lip."
"But when you get scared / anxious from watching those intense show, the split will happen!"
"That is so not scientific / logical!"
"Don't say we didn't warn you if the baby is naughty down the road, it will be too late."
2. Reaching for something high can result in a miscarriage.
3. Watching TV or using the computer within a month after delivery will increase my risk of going blind or have bad vision (that's right, even worse than my current borderline blindness vision).
4. Disposable diapers are bad for the baby, especially for boys.

didn't know that getting scared or being anxious can cause cleft palate. Why...if we put all mothers on anti-anxiety meds can eliminate cleft palates...what a medical break through! (sarcasm intended)
ah geez.
oh. grassroots is me, Anna.
no. 3 cracks me up. what else will they come up with? and by "they" I mean crazy chinese mythical medicine.
So how does cleft lip go to "being naughty down the road"? It is as if they finally got that what they are saying was totally illogical and therefore, to save some sort of face, go to something less absurd, but still equally illogical.
Why are disposable diapers bad for boys especially? How are disposable diapers different from non-disposable diapers (for boys)?
my sister is using reusable diapers for her girl. i stayed away from the laundry room when i was home this Christmas.
re: your sticky situation..
It is courteous of you to offer SOME medical advice in a social setting, and in the future I will do the same cuz I don't like uptight people. But the recipient should appreciate the fact it's free and non-obligatory advice you're giving.
But as Esther mentioned, once they stop respecting the limits (or if they don't understand the limits), it'll require some firmness on your part to say, "Hey buddy, here's where I draw the line."
