Monday, went to The Wired Monk (a coffee shop 15min walk from where I live, and yes, I walked there). All the upstairs sunny tables were taken. They have a downstairs that's not as bright but has big round tables. They served good coffee and lunch. Stayed there for 5hrs.
Tuesday, went for my massage (I am giving up on Hot Stone massages, so overrated); had lunch at Pete's Frootique, and studied at Second Cup, kinda noisy and tables are small and wobbly and general darkness. Stayed there for 3hrs.
Wednesday to Friday - Kellog medical library in the Medical Sciences building. I know I said no libraries but this place was great! It was bright with high ceilings, large fan-shaped tables, lotsa computer terminals if you need it, the have all the peds text books I need so I didn't have to carry a lot of stuff. PLUS, people can eat in there!! Not just eat secretly, but right in front of the librarian! The sound of pop cans opening, Tim Horton's cup on every table, people eating bananas and chips OUT IN THE OPEN! Not even hiding it!! Amazing! I mean technically there are signs everywhere that say "no food or drink" but I don't know why they don't enforce it. Oh well.
So ya, that was my great discovery this week. Libraries are the most ideal place to study, no matter what people say. I was actually excited everyday to go there cuz I knew I'd be forced to be productive (I know I'm a geek, what of it?). I was there for 7hrs each day with an hour for lunch. By the 3rd day, I was feeling like I needed to break out of there though. And I noticed I was very unprodutive in the evenings on those days. Perhaps my brain has a maximum allowable thinking time/day.
Thanks to KaWai for being my study buddy and Tim Horton's lunch date. And thanks to Jeb for giving me a much needed night off on friday.
Well, it's now 3pm on a saturday...time to start working again.
Oh, and Happy Lunar New Year everyone!!!!

Wow...what kind of library is that? I would study everyday if we had one here...hehehe... Great job, Mona!
My my...I would never give the Kellogg such as high rating as you have...may be because I've studied there for three years and found the library somewhat smelly. It's a great improvement though that they now allow food and drink. :D
Hey Mona! I'm so happy for you that you were productive in your study week! Way to go!!!
I liked Kellogg as well as it's old and friendly.:)
The only reason that I don't study in a library anymore is that I need to bring so many things. Oh another reason: I can't wear my ugly but comfy glasses. :)
